The Art of Bike Commuting

“When you are riding [your bike], there is a real connection to the people around you. And you are connected to your place. We have a wonderful place! Let’s enjoy this place. You are connected to the weather in ways that a lot of people aren’t connected. It’s a wonderful thing!” - Ed Gulick

By Ed Gulick - This recording is live from our Climate and Commerce storytelling event during Billings Climate Week in partnership with SustainaBillings and Families for a Livable Climate.

Ed Gulick is the President of High Plains Architects in Billings, where he has played an instrumental role in the firm’s regional leadership in high-performance green building.  Additionally, he is also passionate about creating human-scaled places that people love to inhabit.  Along the way he has also developed expertise in historic preservation and the adaptive reuse of existing buildings.

He has given a number of green building presentations to regional civic groups and co-taught “Urban Ecology," a course offered at MSU-Billings. Ed also has a passion for making Billings a healthy, inviting, and sustainable community as a Billings City Councilmember and through his involvement with the Northern Plains Resource Council. His spare time is spent renovating his 1920 Craftsman house and pushing the bounds of a car-free existence. And when his wanderlust gets the better of him, he explores historic districts and wild landscapes.

Ed is a licensed architect and a LEED Accredited Professional.  He received his B.A. from Pomona College and Master of Architecture from Yale University.
