Do the Beautiful!

Laura with seedlings in a greenhouse high tunnel at Homestead Organics

“The most important moment for a seed, is now. You are holding the seed now and you have the opportunity to let the future happen or let it die in your hands. Where else do we have the power of the future, expect in a seed? Seeds are resilient and adaptable…the seed is alive and breathing in time with nature in a way that we can’t see but we can feel deeply in our bones. Are you breathing with Earth? Are you in the world or of the world?” - Laura Garber

By Laura Garber - This recording is live from our Cultivating Community Resilience Through Storytelling event in partnership with SpectrUM Discovery Area, UM Environmental Studies Program, and Families for a Livable Climate.

Laura is well-known in the Bitterroot for her organization's contributions to this community. She founded Homestead Organics Farm when she moved to Hamilton in 1999. In 2015, she founded Cultivating Connections farm classroom.

When she’s not farming, she is often seen serving our community in many ways, including her facilitation skills and recruiting high school students to deliver “Salads for Seniors” through Meals on Wheels (a Cultivating Connections project).
